My recent paintings are culminations of color, form, line and texture embodied within layered films of wax. Wax is sensual in that it is tactile and translucent. Layer upon layer of beeswax and torn papers accrue to create nuanced, delicately textured surfaces giving a sense of depth and inner light to the work. Within the quiet sense of movement of the composed space, I seek to challenge the very stability of the structure itself.
My art is an expression of and at times a refuge in all that I find beautiful. The works themselves are evidence of my search for an innate sense of beauty beyond which can be touched, heard, tasted. Intended as visual poems (I often embed fragmented lines of poetry within the work), these paintings offer an intuitive space of color, light, form. For me, a place of only feeling.
