The area and proximity located in and around the intercises of civilizations, both developed and abject, provide the materials and resources for my installations. By re-claiming materials, often forgotten and over-looked, I create immersive environments that question and re-purpose the perception of their meaning(s) and any associated specific historical narrative. Video, live feeds, acoustic and edited sounds are employed to further layer in an attempt to create a suspension of disbelief, subjectivity is always in question. Critical awareness of sound in relation to where it is heard and the boundaries it occupies becomes a powerful tool for perception and the production of meaning in my work. Colliding waves of urban sound overwhelm attentiveness toward any single source and when sounds share spatial or temporal proximity, their meanings change.
