Having been born and raised in a small industrial town in the Czech Republic, mylife has been transient and often with lots of changes since I finished high school. My works are ususlly full of intimate feelings and feelings of uncertainty, uneasiness, instability. I create paintings with surreal skies, landscapes, teaming with personal stories and histories that anybody can relate to.
Czech Republic born painter and illustrator Dagmar Hrickova first studied French, Business and European studies before she moved to London where she was working two jobs and going to school in order to pursue her life of an artist.
Since she moved from the Czech Republic, she has had several art shows in France, US, Belgium, Germany and England. In 2011 she has found a new temporary home in New York where she continues making work full of intimate feelings and feelings of uncertainty, uneasiness, instability.
In 2013 Dagmar spent the first few months in Johannesburg, South Africa, where aspects of social injustice have transpired over the years - herself growing up in poor suburbs, and her work has always been indirectly addressing a wide range of issues including themes of social justice and cultural diversity. Thus, conceptually, Dagmar has always worked from a fixed point - her childhood.
