Artist's Statement
My work varies widely in media, and form, in both painting, sculpture. These particular paintings are created on granola bar boxes. The physical presence of the boxes mimic the form of small stretched canvases. The act of painting on this flexible surface which gives ever so slightly is an uncanny analogue to painting on the canvas support. I'm interested in the discreet gesture; the kind that in accumulation fills a life, but in isolation may well go unnoticed . These works are consumer scaled -like so much other stuff that slips past our consciousness by necessity - except that theys are meant as a small reward for taking notice.
