Caroline M. Sun
I paint moments in the lives of animals as I see them in my waking dreams. Each painting tells the story of an instant in an animal's life; there is joy, doubt, yearning, and other nuances. My images are formed from mental impressions that I paint directly onto the canvas, without reference to sketches or photographs. I use vivid acrylic colors to capture the immediacy and power of animals, as well as my own excitement, awe, and wonder. My love of animals began in childhood where I read and watched everything I could about them. As animals in the wild have become an increasingly isolated minority, refugees in their own lands and marginalized by human development, I feel a greater urgency to tell their secret stories--to transform them from alien/outsiders to fellow inhabitants who deserve freedom, space, and peace on our precious planet. www.carolinemsun.blogspot.com
