Cacy Forgenie
Present paintings on window screens and canvas mark a migration from earlier mass manufactured police target paper installations in community gardens around NYC. These installations were made in response to the profiling and the killing of Black and Latino men in certain New York neighborhoods, like El Barrio, by police. By attaching objects specific to an individuals culture to the target paper, I assigned identities to the murdered. These installations led to my present paintings which, wholistically, further discusses the manufacturing of Race as an identity both by police and the policed.
