Artist's Statement

Why does one give someone a greeting card?  Are the words printed on the card a stand in for something one wants to say to someone?  I have photographed the cards in a very detailed way.
The self-portraits I have made  play with the absurdity of sentimentality.  In these photographs I represent a male who not present or is disconnected from intimacy or sentimentality but the props in the images portray sentimentality, love or intimacy.
