Artist's Statement

My works are tools with which I explore my response to the time we live. They are meditations on the search for balance between the inner and outer world, and on the perception of our impermanence. A reflection on the universality of the human experience, and on the necessity of a radical reverence for life. Interested in what is beyond the conscious mind, I use my artistic research as a free-form exploration of my unconscious and as a therapeutic form of self-expression. Inspired by the process of individuation described by Carl Jung, I try to articulate a study of my inner world and my identity in flux while exploring the symbolism of colors and the power of breath. I use photography and video continually probing the boundary between abstraction and figuration, developing a research in which painting, video, and sculpture coalesce in the creation of works rooted in the tactile quality of the material.
