Artist's Statement

I am working exclusively with landscape imagery in my paintings and drawings. I seek out natural subjects that emanate a strong unique feeling. It could be an unusual color or shape, a personified form, or a space that takes on an unexpected symmetry. I discover these moments in forests as I'm walking or on the side of the road as I'm driving. I like the experience of having images rear up in my peripheral vision and demand making.

Amy Talluto earned her BFA at Washington University in St. Louis and her MFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York. She has shown her paintings nationally, including solo shows in Chicago and New York, and in several group shows across the country. She lives and works in the Hudson Valley and also has a secondary studio space in Long Island City, Queens, NY. Please visit my website to see more of my work or learn more:
