Amy Ernst is a forth generation artist. Her grandfather was Max Ernst and Jimmy Ernst was her father.
Growing up in Connecticut surrounded by architects like Marcel Breuer, Elliot Noyes, listening to big band jazz and submerged into the history of the artworld; it is no wonder she calls herself "Painterly Collegist".
l977 she received a B.A. in Theater; l984 an M.A. in Arts Administration, Indiana Univeristy, Bloomington. Afterwards returning to NYC she studied at The Arts Studens League, Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, DieuDonne Papermill and Center For Book Arts she has incorporated her set designs into these collaged forms. Since l988 she has exhibited Nationally and Internationally. l991 post-graduate with Pratt in Venice and 2004 Can Serrat Barcelona, Spain www.canserrat.org.
