Akino Kondoh
A scary picture book which attracted me a lot.
Bitter taste of yellow fluid from ladybird’s.
A dead cat under the hydrangea.
I create artworks through recollections of my childhood memories.
Thinking back and thinking things over and over, it seems like all memories transform into a kind of beautiful nightmare.
Small events in my life become new memories mixed into this “nightmare,” which is a cornerstone of my practice. As I employ the most appropriate way to present it, my work takes various mediums, such as manga, drawing, and oil painting. I have been living in Astoria, Queens and making new animation work “KiyaKiya” now.
I might attempt to create my own nightmares. I develop the work alternating between memories and everyday events.
