Artist's Statement

I grew up in suburban America in a tightly knit Soviet dissident community. My work employs formal devices that reflect the dichotomous iconographies of my cultural upbringing, which allow me to engage the potency of the idea of how one’s sense of identity, geography and place is in a constant state of redefinition.
