Preview of the HBO Documentary Film
"ME @ THE ZOO"
Friday, May 11, 2012
7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
MoMA PS1 and HBO will host a preview screening of "ME @ THE ZOO," an official selection of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.
"ME @ THE ZOO" tells the story of Chris Crocker, a controversial video blogger from a small town in Tennessee. Crocker was bullied out of school in the 8th grade and was, by his account, raised on the Internet. His online videos have been viewed over 270 million times to date—including the infamous 2007 YouTube declaration "Leave Britney Alone!". "ME @ THE ZOO" is an intimate look at Crocker, who is arguably the first Internet celebrity to cross over into mainstream media and is part of the first wave of young people coming into adulthood under constant self-surveillance.
"ME @ THE ZOO" will debut on HBO June 25, 2012.
Screening is followed by a conversation with the film's directors, Chris Moukarbel and Valerie Veatch, and it's subject, Chris Crocker.
