Celebrating Kraftwerk: DJ Harvey

3–6 PM
MoMA PS1 Performance Dome

Celebrating Kraftwerk's extensive influence on electronic music, MoMA PS1 invites distinguished DJs and producers to play tribute sets in the installation Kraftwerk - Retrospective 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. On four consecutive weekends, musicians explore different facets of the group's pioneering sound that helped shape musical styles as diverse as Electro-Funk, Disco, New Wave, Techno, and Hip-Hop.

DJ Harvey earned an international following for his idiosyncratic, ever-increasing, and extremely danceable sets. Mixing musical styles as eclectic as Disco, House, Funk and Soul, Harvey takes his listeners on a historical journey through Kraftwerk's manifold influences.

ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 presents
Electrical Banana: Masters of Psychedelic Art

4–6 PM
Mini-Kunsthalle

Join ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1 for the launch of Electrical Banana: Masters of Psychedelic Art, published by Damiani. Legendary artist/illustrator Gary Panter presents a light show with music, to be followed by a talk and book signing with co-authors Norman Hathaway, creative director and expert on psychedelic art and music history, and Dan Nadel, publisher of PictureBox books. Electrical Banana is the first definitive examination of the international language of psychedelia, focusing on the most important practitioners in their respective fields. Compiling hundreds of never-before-seen images and exclusive interviews and essays, the book revises and expands the common perception of psychedelic art, revealing it to be more innovative, compelling, and revolutionary than previously acknowledged.
